Ongoing Engagement

Rimrock is committed to meaningful engagement and consultation with local landowners and residents. We will continue to engage with stakeholders about the project to share information, respond to questions and to hear your feedback as an important factor in project planning.

We appreciate the level of community engagement regarding the proposed Project and our team has carefully considered and responded to hundreds of questions and concerns.

On January 12, 2023, Rimrock hosted a webinar presentation to all landowners and occupants/residents within 2,000 m of the Rimrock Biodigester Facility boundary to hear detailed information about the proposed facility and to received questions and feedback.

On January 25, 2023, a webinar presentation was provided as part of a Foothills County Public Meeting about the proposed Rimrock Biodigester Facility. The meeting was held by Foothills County and included High River Town Council, the Natural Resources Conservation Board (NRCB) and Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (APEA), as well as being open to the public.

Your questions and concerns about odour conditions in the region and the potential impacts of the Project have been heard and have resulted in beneficial changes to the project.

Based on feedback from local landowners and residents, and Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, we have proposed notable improvements to the overall facility design, including the implementation of additional odour abatement technologies. On August 14, 2023, the Rimrock Renewables Team updated this website to showcase these improvements. We are committed to keeping local landowners and residents informed during ongoing facility planning, and to listening to your feedback.

In Rimrock’s Alberta Environment and Protected Area’s (AEPA) application for the Biodigester, a disclosure was made that Rimrock had received a letter of support from the Mayor of High River. The letter was requested as part of the Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) grant application for the Rimrock Biodigester prior to submission of the AEPA application. Due to a miscommunication Rimrock would like to clarify that a letter of support regarding the Rimrock Biodigester AEPA application was not received from the Mayor of High River. Rimrock would also like to clarify that the letter of support received from Reeve Delilah Miller, disclosed in the AEPA application, was provided to Rimrock to support the ERA grant application only and has no bearing on any municipal applications or permits required by Rimrock.
